Description: A wonderful Louis Icart Print, "Happy Birthday" Circa 1937, depicting a Girl with her Dog looking at 20 Candles on Birthday Cake. As with many Icart "Signed" prints, this signature appears to be part of the print and not an individual signature. If you look at the other current listing of this print and at the sold listing, the "signatures" are absolutely identical, and thus likely part of the print, suggesting this is a licensed reprint. Frame is 22.5" by 18" tall. Print is 18.25" by 13.75" tall with a nice pink matting. This lithograph is in great condition. The colors are still bright, there is no water or humidity damage, no foxing, and no warping. The frame shows some wear, primarily on the corners. The paper tape on the back has a small water stain, which does not flow through to the print or matting. The description is my visual opinion and is not a guarantee. It is the Buyer's responsibility to inspect the photos and deem their own opinion on condition, description, provenance, and validity BEFORE purchasing. The condition and frame style are appropriate to age of the item. The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is free from damage and wear. Please review all pictures posted. He was born in Toulouse, France, and later moved to Paris, where he gained popularity during the 1920s and 1930s. Icart primarily worked in etching, aquatint, and drypoint techniques and became renowned for his elegant and romantic portrayals of fashionable women, often accompanied by animals or set in luxurious settings. His artworks captured the spirit of the Roaring Twenties and reflected the changing social dynamics of the time. Icart's prints and illustrations were highly sought after, particularly in the United States, and he became successful in the American market.Louis Icart's works are characterized by their meticulous detail, delicate lines, vibrant colors, and sensuality. His art often showcased a blend of fantasy and reality, with graceful women in fashionable attire and dreamlike scenes. Icart's popularity waned after World War II as the Art Deco movement declined, but he continues to be recognized as an important artist of that era. His original prints and etchings are collected and appreciated by art enthusiasts and collectors worldwide."
