LP, Yusef Lateef – The Blue Yusef Lateef, Atlantic SD 1508, 1968, LATEEF SIGNED!

Description: The jacket has wear and the LP has a light sheen of scratches so I can't grade it any higher than Fair - playability is questioned. However, this copy has toped onto the back side a strip of lined which is INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY ARTIST YUSEF LATEEF. The signature has not been authenticated, but is consistent with others including another autograph book inscription with nearly the identical 'Peace be unto you....Bro, Yusef Lateef". The previous owner, "Peabody", magic marked his name on the front of the jacket and on both sides of the label of the LP. Interestingly, this "Peabody" also magic marked a dog with glasses on Side 1, and this looks like the "Mr. Peabody" of Rocky and Bullwinkle: "Peabody is an anthropomorphic cartoon dog who appeared in the late 1950s and early 1960s television animated series The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends, produced by Jay Ward. Peabody appeared in the "Peabody's Improbable History" segments created by Ted Key, and he was voiced by Bill Scott." (Wikipedia). This LP was found in the estate of an African American in the Washington DC area. He (/she) may have fashioned himself a "Peabody" of sorts. The LP is an original issue of this LP, with a green, white, and blue label. Atlantic SD 1508, produced in 1968. The glossy LP has moderate to heavy edge and corner wear, with a split top edge starting at opening, about 4", and a small one on the bottom, less than 1", at the opening. No other splits, a "Peabody" magic marked on front cover, light ring seen on back jacket. LP stored in original Atlantic inner sleeve, split on bottom center about 2", LOOKS TO BE ONLY IN FAIR CONDITION, well played with a sheen of light scratches, with some heavier ones but not the deep feelable ones suggestive of a major damage event. The value here is clearly in the signed inscription to "Peabody", and maybe the identity of Peabody, if it can be determined. ER
