Description: This is a wonderful original illustration drawing by one of the best sporting and outdoors artist of the first half of the 20th century, Lynn Bogue Hunt (1878 - 1960). The drawing was created as and illustration for The Saturday Evening Post. Guessing from around 1930-1945. I have not searched for the magazine this image might have been published in. This is an original drawing of performing circus elephants disembarking off a traveling circus train to drink, bathe and frolic in the water. The main elephant is named Frieda according to a type written paper slip attached to the border below the signature. It is behind the mat. The paper is worn but you can make out 'Frida was afraid of the deep water'. The work is signed by the artist in the lower right. There is an original paper label on the back indicating the production rights are held by Curtis Publishing Company owners of The Saturday Evening Post. Executed on Whitman's Illustration board. The drawing is in very good condition. The paper board has edge tears and old hanging pinholes. Rounded corners. Normal toning. Overall new mat size is 34 x 22. Unframed. The paper board is 30 x 17.75. The image area showing in the mat is 27.5 x 15. Selling 'as is'. Please see all the photos as they are part of the description. Nice chance to own an original work by this famous artist.
