Description: Here's a very nice, all original "SWAN SELF-FILLING PEN, MABIE TODD AND CO., NEW YORK" so indicated in the barrel imprint, along with pat. info and a SWAN logo. The barrel imprint is well worn and some of the features are hard to make out.. This pen has the shape of one of MT's Eternal (ETN) pens of the late '20's and early '30's, but it is not so marked other than on the nib. No marking on the clip. This is a flattop model, just under 5-3/16" " long and probably from about 1935. It has triple gold filled cap bands and is a lever filler and both the lever and the cap bands suffer from plating loss. The color is a marbled green and brown pearl. A new sac will be needed before the pen will take up ink. The nib is marked SWAN, ETERNAL, 4, 14Ct. and MABIE TODD below the section line. The nib is an excellent fine point... a little turn down near the tip, but otherwise straight, good iridium and modest flexibility.
