Note of interest: Artist Marie Charlot was actually a fictional artist created by Collectors Corner Inc., an art seller that hired artists to create Victorian-style oil paintings. Marie Charlot oil paintings were in fact created by Far East painters and sold under the invented name because buyers preferred pieces by English, French or American artists.
