MAUSER .22 TYPE TARGET SIGHT, PRE-WAR, MADE BY WALTHER, for SPORTMODELL, etc.

Description: THE LISTING IS ONLY FOR THE TARGET REAR SIGHT AS SHOWN IN THE FIRST PHOTO, the Mauser barrel is only shown for reference and is NOT INCLUDED IN THIS LISTING. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING TEXT AND CAREFULLY REVIEW ALL 9 PHOTOS. This listing is for one target rear sight that was taken from a Pre-war WW2 German Walther Sportmodell .22 LR target rifle. I am selling just the target rear sight as my 70+ year old eyes are no longer adequate for using open rear sights and I just installed a scope on the rifle. I believe that the target rear sight is original to the best of my knowledge and the windage, elevation and barrel tightening knob are all in good working order. I believe that this sight might also fit some of the other Walther .22 rifles that have dove tail grooves on the barrel, such as the Sportmodell V and maybe some of the military training .22 rifles. The buyer must carefully review all 9 photos and the measurements of the dove tail mount of my sight to see if my sight would fit other rifles. This sight does fit my Mauser ES350B .22 target rifle, but, although it slides easily along the barrel grooves, the sight is still a bit too loose for the barrel tightening knob to firmly tighten the sight to the barrel. Possibly, a thin brass shim could be used to allow the sight to be firmly tightened down to the barrel, but, that must be left up to the buyer for that use. I am saying that the sight could be adapted for use on the Mauser ES350B rifle, but, it would require some work, therefore, I am not selling it as a Mauser .22 exact fitting sight, only a sight that could be modified for that use. I am selling this sight as a working target rear sight for the Walther target .22 rifles as I listed above. The sight has only ONE ISSUE that I am aware of: the sight bar with the "V" notch is on a rotating wheel that has 2 other sight notches and a small finger tab that can be turned to rotate the little wheel: THE WHEEL APPEARS TO BE STUCK IN ONE POSITION and I did not want to force the wheel to rotate. Maybe, the buyer will just soak the sight in some solvent and that might free up the rotating disk or maybe the buyer might want to disassemble the sight, but, that is for the buyer to do and not me. If this bothers the buyer, then, please do not buy the sight, as there are many knowledgeable gun owners who know how to work with and use these types of scarce target sights and will be very happy to buy this sight and put it to good use. The measurements are all approximate as I am not a machinist: The sight base opens and closes using the barrel tightening knob-see photos. The maximum opening width at the front is: 12.1mm and 11.3mm at the rear. the closed position at the front is: 10.0mm and 9.7mm at the rear. Of course, a machinist could probably machine trim these dove tail rails to fit the rails of different rifles, but, this is something the buyer must consult with their machinist by showing them the photos and giving them these approximate measurements.
