Description: This is a vintage antique sample of wire fencing. This sample features a Mathias F. McNelly patent, dated May14 1895. This wire is called "McNelly's Barbless Hanging Loop on Single Round Line" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 44-A). This wire features a single heavy gauge straight line wire. Line wire is wrapped by a looped wire wrapped around itself and the line wire. Wire sample shows light pitting. There is one loop. These would have been used for flood gates or vertical stays. Loop is well spaced, and cut is well centered. There are no broken or missing pieces.
