After studying at l'AULA de Musica Moderna i Jazz del Conservatori del Liceu, he was granted a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he graduated summa cum laude in Guitar Performance. Upon returning to Barcelona, he earned a Performance Master's Degree in Jazz Guitar at Catalonia College of Music. Through the years, Xabi has received mentorship from internationally acclaimed musicians, such as Tim Miller, Mick Goodrick, David Fiucynsky, David Gilmore, Ed Tomassi, Dave Santoro, Bret Wilmott, Dani Perez, and Rick Dimuzio.
