No tears and minimal wear to edges and corners. Secondary quarter fold with further lighter diagonal crease to lower left section. J. Potter Ltd. seller stamp to verso. Minor light pencil navigational marks from use. Notes Publisher Hydrographic charts or Admiralty charts are maps designed as aids to navigation at sea. The Hydrographic Office of the British Admiralty, was established in 1795 and published its first chart in November 1800. The charts show navigational hazards (reefs and wrecks) and aids (lights, buoys and beacons). The early charts also show coastal elevations, topographic views and details of coastal forts and defenses. Admiralty charts were continually updated and corrected with either amendments to the original engraved plate, issued as a new edition or completely re-drawn.
