This Book is from the estate of the late General Perry Miles, Brigadier General, United States Army. General Miles was an 1895 graduate of West Point, 1916 graduate of the Army School of the Line (as a Distinguished Graduate), 1920 Graduate of the Army Staff College, 1921 Graduate of the Army War College, and in 1932 became Brigadier General. Part of General Mile's military achievements was being awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for trekking 200 miles with five or six men and capturing a blockhouse in the Philippine Islands during the Philippine resistance. For a short time, he was the youngest Captain in the Army. During his service, he was awarded The Distinguished Service Medal and French Croix de Guerre with Palm and French Legion of Honor during his command of the 371st infantry. He was also awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart, the Spanish War Philippine Campaign, and Victory Medals. General Miles was a member of the American Legion, the Military Order of the World War, Spanish-American War Veterans and the Military Order of the Carabao. He retired at the age of 64 after writing his memoirs, which became a book titled "Fallen Leaves" The General currently rests in peace at the Arlington National Cemetery.
