Description: ANTIQUE WOOD TRINKET Treasure BOX with LARGE "Neapolio Imperator" MEDAL COIN MEDALLION INLAID in LID Embedded coin medal is made of a heavy, thick solid metal. It is bronze in color. We tested it with a strong magnet and it is not magnetic. This could possibly mean it is bronze since it has some substantial weight to it. It could also be copper or brass although they are lighter in weight. The medal coin has a raised reliefdesign featuring a man'shead - profile and imprinted with the words: Neapolio Imperator 1804 AD. We do not know if the coin medal has any design or imprinted on the back since it is attached to the lid and deeply embedded. If we try to remove it, we may damage the wood box since it looks like we would need to dig the coin out. We leave this mystery to its next owner. The underside of the lid has a wood panel inset. This makes us believe that this coin medal has been attached to this lid for quite some time. Box has 2 divided sections lined with wood panels. Perfect storage for coins, biz cards, game pieces, playing cards, or on a desk to keep small office supplies like paper clips, rubber bands, etc. The heavy lid sits on top of the box. It's not hinged. Researched results found a medal coin that could be the same one. However, it was not attached to a box. We do not know if the box was made with the embedded coin medal or attached later after the box was made. The info we found when we researched it is added below. Lid is 6-3/8" long by 5" wide by about 3/8" thick. Box is 2-1/8" high. Base is 6" long by 4-5/8" wide. Box walls are about 1/2" thick. The 2 compartments measure 3-1/2" long by 2-1/2" wide. Weighs about 2 lbs. CONDITION: It fairly good condition. Shows age. Lid in good condition but base is fair with some issues. One long side wall shows a split and the 3 other walls show some separation. This could possibly be from moisture or water exposure. It also has age related antique sediment or vintage dust. Bottom has scuffs. Inside is lined with thin cut pieces of wooden panels that appear newer than the exterior wood. Perhaps it was added to the box at alater time. Some panels are loose and not even.
