Original Antique Doll Coat Dress W/ Collar Embellished With Lace From THERIAULTS

Description: Offered for your consideration is this wonderful antique coat dress for your antique bisque head French or German child dolls. It is beautifully constructed and is both machine- and hand-sewn. This dress was constructed in the last quarter of the 19th century. *****I purchased this originally from Theriault’s Doll Auction; they have beautifully preserved doll clothing that they offer from time to time.***** The fabric is strong and not fragile and is made from a light brown silk and wool blend fabric that has a small pattern to it, similar to a small herringbone. It is fully- lined in a light brown or beige polished cotton. The waist has knife pleats which make the coat-dress drape beautifully when worn by a doll with jointed composition body. The bodice measures 5” long from shoulder to high waist and features a three button front closure. Only the middle button remains. The top is further decorated with a wide collar trimmed in a rich deep brown velvet, and lavishly appointed with ornate lace. The lace-trimmed collar continues around the upper back and covers the top of the sleeves which are slightly full at the top and the sleeves end with a wide band of the deep brown velvet at the gathered cuffs. From the waist, the skirt of the dress is 10 1/2” long, making the coat-dress 15 1/2” long.
