Description: Early Original 1/6th Plate Antique Daguerreotype Photo, Old Woman Wearing Early Bonnet, Taken c.1840 DESCRIPTION: Nice early antique cased daguerreotype image taken during the very early days of popular daguerreotype photography, c1840. I apologize for the reflected light/camera in my scans, obviously not part of the actual photo itself, which is clear and high quality. THIS ONE IS VERY NICE, of an old woman wearing an early bonnet. Very rough fingers indicating a hard life of work. ALSO, HAS SILK FABRIC RATHER THAN LATER STYLE VELVET PLUSH, AGAIN TYPICAL OF THE EARLIEST DAGS AND HELPING TO DATE IT C.1840. This dag has great, early mid-1800's subject matter. Nice seated antebellum pose and appearance, especially due to her age and with the early bonnet hat. 1/6 plate size, in an early plate brass mat, set in its original leather case. Nice design and is in very good condition. Has both parts of the case, with the original hinge, NOT separated as often happens with age. STILL THE ORIGINAL CASE THAT THE PHOTO HAS BEEN IN FOR 180+ LONG YEARS!!! THIS IS A VERY INTERESTING, GREAT EARLY EARLY DAG!! VERY UNUSUAL AND VERY NICE TO FIND SUCH AN EARLY, CLEAR ANTIQUE DAGUERREOTYPE PHOTO !!! Please see my auction list for other framed antique photos, both ambrotypes and daguerreotypes, many identified and many in gorgeous fancy frames!! PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS!!!
