Description: Oval bonbon candy or nut dish by Pickard, Mark 2 cir 1898 - 1903. The blank is unknown. The bonbon is artist signed Marker (Curtis H.). Marker began decorating for Pickard in 1908. From the beginning he did premium quality work and displayed superb talent in color and design. In the realm of scenic vellums, his "Italian Garden" and "Wildwood" patterns, among others, placed him in the same league as Challinor. The bonbon dish is oval with a scalloped rim, with some of the edges folded outward. The footed base is also scalloped, with some of the edges folded outward. It has an overall length of 7 inches and is 4 12 inches wide at the widest point, and is 1 3/4 inches deep. The bonbon dish is decorated in clusters of purple violets and leaves, connected by a thin red stem line around the lower edge of the gold band along the rim. The background is pastel shades of purple, green, yellow and white. The footed base has a matching gold band. Please view all pictures for details. The pictures are made a part of the description. The bio on the artist is from the Collector's Encyclopedia of Pickard China by Alan B. Reed. Please view my other listings.
