There was 500 copies of the first volume printed but only 300 copies of each of the next four volumes. The Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association was founded in 1870 in Deerfield MA and was the first historical society in western Massachusetts. In modern times it focuses on “old Hampshire County,” and present day Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden Counties. Each volume will cover a specific time period and will contain reports of the annual & field meetings. The reports will contain historical presentations given at the meetings such as bios of local citizens, military, family genealogies, recollections, settlement, church history, Deerfield Academy, Indians and more.
