This Kit has a higher percentage of malted rye to give your finished product that bite you can only get from rye- like Bulleit, Four Roses, or Woodford. Rye malt cost a bit more, but it is worth it to those wanting it. This kit is designed for making a super strong 5 gallon wash, using organic grains specifically grown, malted, and kilned for use in brewing. The grain weight in total is 10 pounds. This will get you a superb wash full of sugars for the yeasties to make a potent brew for distilling. Additionally, The same corn mash can be used over again by adding more sugar and yeast to make an authentic sour mash. Our blend of grains made specifically for brewing don't need amylase enzyme additives like some of the others products on ebay, because the malting process causes the enzyme to be naturally added by the malted grains when heated. We use 6-row barley that naturally contains higher amounts of these enzymes. THIS IS NOT "SWEET FEED". Buyer beware- many sellers offer "sweet feed" for brewing- "sweet feed" is nothing more than food for stock animals that often contains sulfur compounds, minerals, hormones, antibiotics, salts, and preservatives- NOT good things to be brewing with or drinking. We strongly encourage you to avoid "sweet feed" blends. Also, some seller sell 8lbs for 5 gallon mashes- be sure to compare! Our blend has three grains: 70% Organic Lincoln County cracked Corn (7lbs.) 20% Malted Rye (2 lb.) 10% Malted Rahr 6-row Barley (1lb.) The grains are milled the day they are ordered/ shipped, and each grain type is packaged individually- not mixed together, so you really can see the quality. If you are looking at the offers bu other ebay sellers, ask them if their ingredients are individually packaged- if not, you might be getting Co-op / animal supply feed. Do you think the old time distillers had amylace enzyme around to make their product? Don't settle for cheap, don't settle for all the nasty by-products in livestock sweet feed. Using all-grain methods will result in a true smooth whiskey (or bourbon if aged in charred oak).
