RARE 1932 Beige Face Herman Miller Gilbert Rohde? Table Clock Art Deco MCM

Description: Appealing to both collectors of pieces from the Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern eras, this hard to find clock is model number HM 4779 of the "Clocks of Character" series released by Herman Miller in 1932 and has the rare beige clock face. Made from solid mahogany, it measures 7 1/2" in height by 7" width by 2 3/4" in depth and has a lithographed enameled metal dial. In the past I've seen this model clock listed for between $2400 and $2800 in unknown working condition. Those listings purported that this clock was designed by Gilbert Rohde. Beginning in 1932, and continuing up to the time of his death in 1944, Rohde advised Herman Miller's president Dirk Jan De Pree on design, marketing, and production and he initiated modern design for Miller as well as several other furniture makers of that time. While Rohde was known primarily as a furniture maker, in 1932 and 1933 he created a series of clocks for the Herman Miller Clock Company. This clock was released in 1932 so the year is right but I have not been able to CONFIRM that this clock was designed by Rohde and his name is not listed in the "Clocks of Character" page this clock is listed on (see photos). This clock is fully functional and in working condition. It is in wonderful condition for the age. There are slight scratches on the bottom of the clock and the original pads have worn off. There is a slight indentation on one of the top corners that appears to be part of the wood during manufacture. I also have the black clock face version in my personal collection and can share photos of that one if you are interested. Please look at all pictures and send any inquiries before bidding.
