RARE Made only in 1954 CHERIE DRESSED FOR THE OPERA Madame Alexander Elise Doll

Description: EXTREMELY RARE - PRODUCED IN 1954 ONLY This Special Opera gown, Cape, and purse outfit is actually for a 18" Madame Alexander doll with Margaret O'Brien face. I purchased the outfit about 20 years ago with the Madame Alexander Elise Doll modeling the outfit, and discovered the wrong doll was included. As you can see, it does fit Elise nicely. The complete Outfit Number is #2031 - 1954 - and called Madame Alexander "CHERIE" "Cheri Dressed for the Opera" from the "Me and My Shadow" Series Madame Alexander's Elise Doll is Cissy's younger sister and the doll included in this auction. Here back is marked "MME ALEXANDER". I was told the outfit was made for an 18" doll with a Margaret face, with flat feet. (shown in a B&W photo). This 15" Elise doll, a true vintage gem from the 1960s, with brown curly hair, clear- green eyes that open and close, arms that bend at the elbow, wrist and shoulder, legs that bend at the knees, thighs and ankles, and a waist that twists from left to right. She comes with her original lace under pants, nylon stockings and pretty high heel shoes. She also is wearing a cute straw hat that is not part of the original outfit. The last 2 photos describe the actual doll dressed in the complete Opera outfit, minus the hat, and the Margaret face, and the price guide with the write-up telling that the outfit was made only in 1954, detailed in the 1954 Alexander catalog. Elise is wearing the original and very beautiful, thick, white bouffant satin evening gown that gracefully drapes and flows to the ground with a floral appliqué, a soft-pink taffeta evening opera coat with white satin lining, and a large neck bow. Under the gown is a lovely hooped petticoat, and white lace underpants, and nylon stockings. high heels, plus her pink satin evening bag/purse. Detailed clothing in this auction as described in Madame Alexander reference book: Goya Pink Taffeta Opera Cape, with 27 inches of taffeta, with a large bow at the neck, and white satin lining.White Heavy Satin Gown with a lot of detailing on 25 inches of satin, and a pink flower in front of the gown. TAG on dress says - "Madame Alexander All Rights Reserved, New York, USA"White taffeta Hoop Slip has wire sewed into the slip that makes the slip full, with attached undies, and snaps A straw hat with pink flowers. It is not part of original "Cherie Dressed for the Opera" from the "Me and My Shadow" series. Was told that the hat goes to an Elise day dress, #1610 from 1957. I bought it with this outfit years ago.Pink taffeta purse with lace, long handle (it can be opened) matches the pink cape.Pair of pull-on nylon stocking with seams, like once used in the 1950s and 60s. One stocking has a hole which can be professional repaired. I tore it while pull on the nylons. Only missing is the original Ivory Satin Shoes and a Floral Hairpiece, and of course the original doll. Condition: Minor spots on gown and cape due to age. See all detailed photos.
