Ilyayev learned at the Academy for plastic art in Baku and later, in 2001, upon immigrating to Israel, continued his studies at the Tel Aviv University and in the Avni Institute for art in Tel Aviv. Since 2002, Ilyayev he teaches art in various schools and academies in Israel while continuing his own artistic life. In 2003 Slava Ilyayev participated in 2 major shows in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem where, for the first time, his artworks were on display to the public. Slava Ilyayev’s works are unique in the structure of the color which is raised above the canvas. His compositions of light and shadow are affected by the transitions of the seasons of the year. He has been inspired by the landscapes and lavish sun and light of Israel as compared to the dark palette he used in Russia. The dazzling local light which is so hard on the eyes of all newcomers from Eastern Europe has taken on a hue that blends and balances among the delicate sensitive brush stroke on the paper. That light, which vitiated the influences of local scenes is the challenge, the object to be confronted and it also determines the content and the hue and the grid and the final message. That light and the touch are what endow his paintings with an optimistic tone, but they are also what spatters them with soulful hints of other feelings. Ilyayev paints his scenes in his own characteristic way. It may be concrete, narrative, illustrative or he may strip away all the secondary elements from the inner structure skeleton of the composition and with a few brush strokes create hints that constitute the principal figurative structure of his paintings. At times a particular sight leads him into the depths of the painting, and only when it is over, is he aware of the journey he conducted upon the paper. The journey from a color patch to a shape and form that crosses the color area. The basis of the tension in the composition of his painting Return Policy: 14 day FULL money back, if the description does not match the item received.
