Description: Rare 19th Century Sheraton Stenciled Split Column “Fancy” Mahogany Looking Glass Ca 1820-1840This mirror has a split turned columns with exceptional gilt and black stencils and block corners with hammered brass discs. Original, or old, mirror glass. The top portion of mirror is obscured and foxed from age and could be replaced. Original pine board backing. These “fancy” mirrors are contemporary to the famous Sheraton, or Hitchcock Style fancy chairs, so beloved in 1830’s New England, and are quite rare. The mirror, with the exception of the top mirror glass, is in excellent used condition. The mirror measures 14 inches wide x 26-1/2 in. H x 2 in. D Weight, unpacked: Approx. 5 lbs.
