Description: Offering the rare vintage 1930's American D3 Dynamic Microphone, very similar to the Western Electric 618A model. It is also also classified as a "pressure microphone", responding to sound pressure, based on the principle of magnetic induction in which a wire coil held within a magnetic field, creating voltage. It is is also referred to as the electrodynamic, electromagnetic, and moving coil microphone for this reason. These microphones are known for their durability, less fragile than condenser microphones, and are able to handle much louder noises before they begin distorting the sound, as well as being more physically durable. For this reason they are often used by musicians performing live. The solid brass casing has pleasantly oxidized to a darker patina and is held in place by the support ring which is mounted to the hand-fabricated aluminum yoke.... the side thumb nuts can hold the tilt angle at the desired angle. A heavy adjustable-height desk stand is included along with a new 4' Amphenol to male XLR cable. The mic responds well with good fidelity and strong output. (A short voice sample has been included on the video in this listing. Overall height is 13-17". ** Always safe secure packaging and fast fair shipping. **** WE BUY OLD MICROPHONES...INVENTORY REGULARLY UPDATED **** Click on my eBay username for details. (Text or call.)
