Description: Royal Stafford Golden Bramble Footed Cup & Saucer Blackberries w/Gold 1950's HTF A beautiful ROYAL STAFFORD Fine Bone China FOOTED Scalloped CUP & SAUCER, Striking BLACKBERRIES inside Cup & on Well & Outside of Saucer, Distinctive GOLD LEAVES with Gold Trim, Circa 1950's from Longton, Staffordshire, England DESCRIPTION: This superb quality china has colors that are bright and vivid. This is decorated on a blank of white china in the Golden Bramble pattern with black veined, gold leaves The palette colors used are: purple, pink, green & black on white with gold trim. The blackberries vary from purple to pink to green. The most striking feature about this set is the unusual gold leaves with their black veining. There are 3 distinctive gold lines around the outside of the cup and the well of the saucer. The scalloped foot of the saucer is painted in a solid gold. The handle of the cup is trimmed in gold. CONDITION: While this set is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or hairlines. There are no utensil marks or wear to the gold trim. DIMENSIONS: The cup has a diameter of 3 7/8" with a height of 2 1/8". The deep saucer has a diameter of 5 1/8" and a height of 13/16". HISTORY/MARKS: Thomas Poole started his bone china pottery at Cobden Works, Cooke Street, Longton, Staffordshire, UK in 1880 using Royal Stafford China as his tradename. It was renamed Thomas Poole, Ltd. in 1925 and in 1948 merged with Gladstone China, Ltd. to form Royal Stafford China, Ltd. Their marks or variations of their marks continued to be used. Each piece is stamped with the pattern name “Golden Bramble” in gold, with “Royal Stafford Bone China Made in England” in blue. “Bone China” is on blue banner. This mark was used by Royal Stafford China circa the 1950’s. Through several mergers over its more than 150-year history, the new Royal Stafford formed in 1992 is still in business today. However, the Golden Bramble pattern has not been in production for some time. Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description.
