Description: IDYLLS OF THE KING, SIGNED BY JIM MORRISON OF THE DOORS AND BY PATRICIA KENNEALY MORRISON Bear with me. The $50,000 price tag was to get your attention -- I'm open to all offers. This item is a well-preserved 1859 first edition of Alfred Lord Tennyson's Idylls of the King, a fine poetry classic which in this condition would normally list for two or three hundred dollars. What makes this copy extraordinarily special is that it was gifted by Jim Morrison to the woman he is alleged to have married in late June of 1970, a year before his passing on July 3, 1971. "Alleged" is important, for a number of Doors fans believe that the marriage was fabricated by Patricia Kennealy (who later changed her name to Patricia Kennealy-Morrison). However, the inscription strongly suggests that Jim recognized her as his wife: "J.M. to P.K.M." -- he is adding his last initial to her name. This may not be final proof (maybe Jim was just humoring her), but it offers excellent evidence that Jim Morrison considered himself to be married to Patricia. Below Jim's inscription Patricia has signed her name as "Patricia Morrison" and dated this in the year of their marriage. Items signed by both Jim and Patricia are rare in the extreme. For purposes of comparison, I've included the wedding document signed by both Morrisons, borrowed from the internet (last photo). This is truly a unique collector's item, a fascinating piece of rock history for any Morrison/Doors fan. I welcome all questions and comments. The book is in very good shape, some expected wear and age but, with strong binding and really no noteworthy flaws. Measures 4.25" X 6.5", 261 pages. Ships promptly & securely.
