Description: HUM 118 "Little Thrifty, Bank"-TMK-7 Height 5.125" Tall This hummel is actually a functional bank. It was made with a real metal lock that opens with a metal key on the underside of the base. It was originally modeled in 1939 by Master Sculptor Arthur Meller. There are some variations with the position of the girl's left hand, color of the coin (Gold or Silver) in her right hand and height of the base over the years. It was restyled in 1963 by master sculptor Rudolf Wittman, who shortened the base height and moved the position of the left hand further back. The object into which "Little Thrifty" is putting her coin is a medieval form of a poor box, something which can still be found in old European churches. To my knowledge, this figurine was not produced with the TMK-4 trademark. "Little Thrifty" sold for $6.00 on old 1955 price list. This example came with an authentic 1981 German Pfenning coin in the box from Goebel! Most hummels found now are missing the coin. It also has the Master Painter's full name signature and 1991 date. Additionally, during this TMK-7 trademark era, some boxes were accidentally labeled Hum 418/0, such as this one! This mistake was quickly corrected by Goebel. This is a closed edition. (CE) See below for the specifications: Has the Goebel "" Crown Trademark (TMK-7) stamped in Blue on underside of base. Incised Hummel Number "118" and Factory Control Number "82" on underside of base. Incised "M.I. Hummel" on side of base. Functional Coin Bank - There is an opening at the top of the poor box that you can place coins for saving inside. When ready to cash in your savings, you can unlock the metal lock on the underside of the base with the original key. Goebel even provided the first coin for your savings, an original 1981 German Pfenning! Hand-signed full name by Master Painter with year 1991 in black on underside of base. Hummel stands at 5.125" tall, which falls within the height range of 5"-5.5" listed in the catalogs. Retains Original "Spar-Hummelchen Little Thrifty" Sticker on side of base. Original box has the ERROR "418/0" on label instead of the correct "118" hummel number. Closed Edition.(CE) Hummel comes with original key on string, original German Pfenning, Yellow Quality Control Paper and original Label ERROR box with foam inserts. Hummel is in New Open Box condition! (Never Used or Displayed!) No Repairs! No Chips! No Touch Ups! No Crazing! Hummel was stored in attic with dozens of other new hummels in boxes.
