The straps are almost 5.5" long total, with the hook and loop portion of the strap measuring approximately 3.75". On my husband's head, it is most comfortable for him when the strap is connected by only about 1" of the hook & loop. It is pictured on a small female head. Apparently it may be better suited for medium / smaller heads. Buy accordingly. If you happen to have a larger head, just dont buy it, that way neither one of us are disappointed. Just like any article of clothing, what is comfortable on you isn't on someone else. I'm not the manufacturer of these although I have been selling them for several years. This wont fit every head, nor have I ever stated that it will.
