Description: The souvenir banknote "One Hundred Hryvnias" reproduces the design of the Ukrainian banknote with a face value of 100 hryvnias, which was put into circulation on October 17, 1918. In the spring of 1918, the Ukrainian government decided to change the name of the national currency from 'karbovantsy' to 'hryvnias' in order to emphasize the continuity of the traditions of state-building since the times of Kievan Rus. The most valuable banknote from an artistic point of view was the 100 hryvnia note designed and executed by H. Narbut, which depicts a lush wreath of flowers, fruits, vegetables, and wheat. A woman in national costume holding a sheaf of wheat and a sickle in her hand and a man in an apron leaning on a hammer wreathed in laurel stand on either side. The inscriptions on the reverse side are included in a large cartouche of floral and fruit ornaments, and there are decorative columns on the sides. The whole composition is crowned by a trident framed by a laurel wreath. The banknote is made on paper with a watermark (trident image). Its dimensions: 80 x 170 mm.
