Description: St Joseph of CupertinoSingle Decade Rosary This beautiful chaplet is dedicated to the wonderful St Joseph of Cupertino, the levitating friar! The image on the medal is of the saint as he is levitating, which is one of the things this saint was known for! The silver-toned 1-1/2" St Benedict crucifix and the medal were made in Italy; the chaplet itself was designed and handmade in the USA by me. The eleven beads are all 8 mm, smooth, round, natural semi-precious gemstones. The single Our Father is a Blue Adventurine. The ten Hail Mary beads are Picture Jasper. About 10" long, it comes gift-boxed and with a carry pouch, How to Pray the Rosary and Divine Mercy pamphlets, St Joseph of Cupertino prayer card, St Benedict prayer card, 15 Promises of Mary card, and a gift bag and tissue paper to hold everything for gift-giving. Great for the student who struggles with academics or test-taking!St Joseph of Cupertino was a Franciscan who eventually became a priest; he was a Christian mystic who had such ecstatic visions that he would actually levitate and fly about the room. As a young man he was considered "unclever" and he was refused admittance to a Franciscan order due to his lack of education. They let him work in the stables, and so became so impressed with his simplicity and faith that they admitted him as a friar; he later became a priest. Since he lived during the 17th century during the Inquisition, and levitating was often associated with witchcraft, he had to undergo investigation and was sent to different monasteries to be observed. Eventually cleared, his levitating encouraged crowds to the extent that he was ordered to be kept in a monk's cell away from the public. His joyful ecstasies continued all his life; regardless of his sufferings, and he became recognized by the common people and his fellow monks as a man of great holiness. He is the patron saint of astronauts, for obvious reasons; also of students, test-takers, and people with mental handicaps and learning disorders. A happy saint who would be a friend to anyone who lives with joy, even in the face of adversity. The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medals and pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" program on a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper. Although they are not like the usual smaller professionally printed prayer cards, most of our customers prefer them since they are like a pamphlet with 4 "pages" and several images, prayers, patronages and often other information about the saint or Catholic devotion.
