Description: 'Star Wars Trilogy: Special Edition' was a theatrical anniversary edition of the original trilogy, in order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first film. It contains "A New Hope", "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return Of The Jedi" in Widescreen with cleaned up visuals and some added scenes that Lucas intended to "finish the film the way it was meant to be" (including the controversial scene where Greedo shoots first). This is a set of Laserdiscs, a less successful media format the existed from 1978-2001, at first competing with VHS & Beta and then being eliminated entirely with the success of DVDs. The format supported multiple audio tracks, which allowed for vast supplemental materials to be included on-disc. Where a DVD was equivalent to a CD - Laserdiscs are, in the simplest terms, video encoded on the equivalent of a traditional 12" vinyl record.
