Description: Up for sale is a copy of STATISTICAL ATLAS OF THE UNITED STATES BASED ON THE RESULTS OF THE NINTH CENSUS 1870. Published 1874. Numerous large color maps reporting in visual detail the results of the 1870 census. Some West coast maps although most are east of the Mississippi. Large folio approximately 23 x 15 for single sheet. Double sheet maps 23 x 30. Numerous maps. Numbered through 56 plates. Solidly bound. Biggest issue is a stain lighter and almost non existent in a few places of moderate at start of the atlas along bottom third of maps. Otherwise rips and tears to plates but not hugely significant. Paper is not the best given it was published just after Civil War so it more brittle then others in decades further in the past or future. Still a nice complete copy.
