Description: This watch was a gift to my husband 40 +years ago and was purchased as a fine antique and in perfect working order at that time, just as it is today. It was never used as a working watch. It was enough to simply own such a beautiful piece. The years have passed, and it is now time to pass it along to someone else for their enjoyment, just as we have done. The watch is in near pristine condition just as it was when purchased. Any wear, however minimal, is due to the fact that it is 137 years old. Time should be sokind to us all. The pictures will speak for the piece's condition. I have wound it ever so slightly and it started immediately and is running strongly. I have not checked the extended length of time it has run or its accuracy, but I have no doubt that it is in good running order though I cannot guarantee this. The hinges on all lids are tight and open and close as they should. The serial number is clearly marked #3405377 on the works and the 14K case is marked as such with the case #139910 and the Waltham logo in more than one place. The face, hands and crystal are in flawless condition. In the reference material I have searched, this piece was estimated to have been made between October and November 1887 and is listed as William Ellery quality, Grade B with a run quantity of 500, Size 6S with 13 jewels. That reference is c.1900 Waltham Factory Ledger Book 2[NAWCC], 1954 Waltham "Gray Book List, NAWCC Waltham Serial Digest. The watch has a gross weight of 57 grams. I have described this to the best of my knowledge. However, if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask and I will be back in touch as soon as possible. Thank you for looking and I wish you and yours a happy holiday.
