If they succeed, their sentences are reduced. Dr. June Moone, an archaeologist, becomes possessed by the witch Enchantress. Waller controls Enchantress through her magical heart, but Enchantress betrays her, conquering Midway City and summoning her brother Incubus to destroy humanity. Task Force X, consisting of Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, El Diablo, Killer Croc, and Slipknot, is formed to stop her. They are led by Colonel Rick Flag, who secretly loves Moone. Upon arrival, they’re attacked by Joker, who helps Harley escape. Waller shoots down his helicopter, and Harley rejoins the team, believing Joker is dead. After Waller is captured by Enchantress, Deadshot discovers Flag’s secret. The squad abandons Flag, but later returns to stop Enchantress and save the city. El Diablo sacrifices himself, and Harley kills Enchantress by cutting out her heart. Moone is freed, and Waller reduces the team's sentences, except for Boomerang. Joker rescues Harley, and in a mid-credits scene, Waller meets Bruce Wayne, who agrees to protect her in exchange for government files on metahumans. He hints at his plans to form his own superhero team, including Flash and Aquaman, and warns Waller to shut down Task Force X or face consequences.
