Superman IV The Quest for Peace Comic Adaptation A DC Movie Special Man of Steel

Description: Superman IV: The Quest for Peace One-Shot Comic The Official DC Comics Movie Adaptation of the 1987 Superman Movie! Based on the DC Comics character Superman created by: Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster Writer: Bob Rozakis Artists: Curt Swan & Don Heck Inkers: John Beatty, Dick Giordano, Frank McLaughlin, & Al Vey Colorist: Carl Gafford Letterer: Janice Chiang Editor: Jonathan Peterson Cover by: Jerry Ordway Superman IV: The Quest for Peace is a 1987 American superhero film directed by Sidney J. Furie, starring; Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman, Margot Kidder, Jackie Cooper (all reprising their respective roles). The fourth and final film in the original Superman film series was based on a story by Christopher Reeve, Lawrence Konner and Mark Rosenthal. This DC Comics comic adaptation of the movie features different dialogue than the film and incidents that were not included in the 1987 movie. In late 1987, DC Comics prepared a comic book adaptation of Superman IV, scripted by Bob Rozakis and pencilled by Curt Swan and Don Heck. This edition included different dialogue than the film and incidents from the deleted scenes of the movie. In place of a voice-over from Lara in the early scene involving Superman finding the mysterious crystal, there is a projection of Jor-El himself, much like in the first film. The comic book features a battle with the failed prototype of Nuclear Man resembling Bizarro, and an around-the-world fight with the second Nuclear Man. The adaptation has an alternate ending with Superman and Jeremy flying above Earth, observing that the planet is, in reality, just one world, rather than the divided world one sees on a man-made map. In the adaptation, Jeremy is seen in orbit with a space-suit but in the deleted footage he is not wearing any protection of any kind, as was Lacy Warfield when she was rescued from the second Nuclear Man by Superman. Now DC Comics presents Superman IV: The Quest for Peace! When the Man of Steel decides to rid the world of all nuclear weapons, his arch foe Lex Luthor returns with a fiendish plan of his own… an evil solar-powered version of Superman called Nuclear Man!! Story/Spoilers: The story begins at a Russian space station where a cosmonaut is working outside, when suddenly a piece of space debris flies into the space station, spinning it out of control and sending the cosmonaut into deep space. The Russians are saved however, when Superman (Christopher Reeve) flies to the rescue, first putting the space station back into its orbit and then rescuing the cosmonaut. In Smallville, Superman aka. Clark Kent visits his parents graves… then returns to the old Kent farm which is being put up for sale. In the barn, Clark Kent finding the mysterious green crystal, there is a projection of Jor-El himself with a message. Clark listens to a message from his Kryptonian father as he explains that the green crystal he holds is the very last source of Kryptonian energy and that he should use it wisely. Clark then returns to Metropolis. On the subway, Clark spots Lois Lane (Margot Kidder) on the train but misses the train. The train driver suffers an apparent heart attack and causes the vehicle to pick up speed, Clark changes into Superman. Superman then flies past the train and gets ahead of it, stepping on the tracks to stop the train's power. Superman attends to the driver and tells the emergency team to find a new train driver. At the Daily Planet, Clark arrives to discover that a media mogul named David Warfield and his daughter Lacy are to take over the newspaper, with plans to turn it into a sleazy tabloid. Clark's outspoken opinions on delivering the truth is noticed by Lacy who develops a liking for him. They are all interrupted by a special TV report from the President of the United States stating that peace talks have break down between the world's superpowers and the U.S. President says that America 'strive to become second to none in the nuclear arms race'. A school boy named Jeremy says that Superman should help and writes a letter to Superman. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) and his his young nephew Lenny are at Metropolis Museum where a strand of Superman's hair supports a massive ball of steel. After the museum closes, Lex and Lenny steals the strand of hair with a plan to create a radiation-charged nuclear powered man that’s even greater than Superman. Back at the Daily Planet, Lacy makes her move on Clark Kent but is interrupted by Lois with a letter addressed to Superman about Jeremy’s request for Superman’s help. Superman is moved by the letter and visits Jeremy’s school and says that he cannot intervene in global politics, but will pass the letter on the leaders of the world. At Lex Luthor's penthouse lair, Lex presses the power on button… immediately, a lifeform emerges. A full grown man crackling with power and calling Lex Luthor -- “Father”! Testing the clone they find that he potentially has the same powers as Superman and could destroy him. Later, while on a date with Lacy at some dance club, Clark Kent “super” hears a woman screaming and excuses himself. Quickly transforming into Superman comes face to face with Lex’s nuclear powered man. They battle and the clone is quickly defeated. Lex surmises that he needs power… the power of the sun itself! Later, back at the Warfield-controlled Daily Planet, when Perry White (Jackie Cooper) reads the newspaper headline, “SUPES TO KID: DROP DEAD” he makes an uproar and then heads downtown. A conversation between Jimmy, Lois and Clark leads to Lois saying that Superman gave up on the Nuclear Arms Race… giving Clark something to think about. Superman flies to the Fortress of Solitude and when he seeks guidance from the Kryptonian elders, they encourage him to move on to another planet where war is forgotten. But Superman decides that Earth is his home and addresses the UN, with the world's press in attendance. He proposes to do what no one else can, or will, which is to 'rid the world of all nuclear weapons'. Following a tremendous applause, the superpowers all begin to launch their missiles into space where Superman sends them flying into the Sun. Back at Lex Luthor’s lair, a trio of arms dealers hear Luthor's plan to make a fortune re-arming the world and to get rid of Superman, which involves creating a clone with the same deadly powers. Using a “genetic stew” grown from Superman's hair strand, Lex infiltrates a missile compound and attaches the “genetic stew” to the last remaining missile to be launched. Superman again catches the missile and throws it into the sun. As the missile with the device reaches the sun and is destroyed, it instantly transforms the "stew" into a superhuman being with incredible power. He flies back to Earth and meets Luthor at his penthouse hideout, referring to him as Nuclear Man, the only being with the power to pierce Superman's skin and make him weak enough to die. Of course, Luthor shows his nephew that Nuclear Man needs direct sunlight to function or else he will be powerless. A few days later, Lois Lane meets with Lacy Warfield at her apartment for a double date where Superman tries to entertain them as both himself and Clark Kent when he gets a secret video message from Lex Luthor, forcing Kal-El to meet at his penthouse. Superman interrupts the date to deal with Luthor, only to find himself face-to-face with his creation Nuclear Man. The two end up in a struggle that takes them all across the world, as Nuclear Man leads his enemy around the world, setting off a volcano in Italy and destroying the Great Wall of China. Finally, Nuclear Man takes the Statue of Liberty and drops it over Metropolis. Superman catches it just in time and flies the statue back to Ellis Island, but Nuclear Man takes advantage of this and pierces Superman's skin with his radioactive fingernails. Weakened from contact, Superman drops to the ground after putting the statue back in place, and then Nuclear Man kicks him high into the sky, causing his cape to drop onto the torch. Back at the Daily Planet, the Warfield press machine spins out IS SUPERMAN DEAD?, and its publishers now have Superman's cape in their possession. This outrages Lois to the point where she takes the cape off their hands and quits her job at the Daily Planet. Meanwhile, Luthor rejoices at all the money his arms dealers were making from the demise of Superman and the rearming of the world, though he chooses to end their partnership and take all the profits for himself, using Nuclear Man's powers to get the point across. Lois goes to Clark's apartment and finds him at home sick, Lois hands Clark Superman's cape and tells him that she is sure that Superman would want his cape back. After she leaves, Clark pulls out the energy module and again hears from his Kryptonian father that the green crystal he holds is the very last source of Kryptonian energy and that he should use it wisely. Lex Luthor now feels secure in that he has a superpowered being at his disposal. However, Nuclear Man starts having desires for Lacy Warfield when he sees her picture in the papers and then tells Lex Luthor that he is the master now. Back at the Daily Planet, Nuclear Man crashes in and grabs Lacy and takes her back to Luthor’s lair. Then at Luthor’s lair, Nuclear transformers into a living nuclear missile and lauches leaving Lacy, Lex, and Lenny with dread of a nuclear holocaust. World powers acknowledge the missile launch. Lex states that it’s time to head underground to avoid the nuclear winter… but then Superman shows up! Lex goads Superman into stopping Nuclear Man before detonation. Using Lacy as bait, Superman lures Nuclear Man back to the city of Metropolis. Superman, with his powers and health restored battles Nuclear Man with destruction. As Nuclear Man threatens the citizens of Metropolis with his powers, Superman tricks Nuclear Man into entering an elevator car and then drags it out into space, dumping it on the dark side of the moon where he will remain inert and powerless due to lack of sunlight. However, a bit of the sun's light does creep into the elevator car and repowers Nuclear Man, resulting in a fight with Superman on the moon which leaves the Superman overwhelmed but not depowered. Nuclear Man goes back to Earth and attempts to kidnap Lacy Warfield, meanwhile Superman pushes the moon in front of the sun, causing an eclipse, which causes Nuclear Man to lose his powers. Superman quickly deposits Nuclear Man into the heart of a nuclear reactor, where he becomes a powerful energy source for the city of Metropolis. On Interstate 80, as Luthor and his nephew try to make their getaway, Superman captures them and flies off with their vehicle takes them back to the prison that he escaped and tells the law enforcement to contact Boys Town about Lenny. Back at the Daily Planet, Perry White has managed to secure funds at the bank and buys back control of the newspaper. At a United Nation’s press conference, Superman tells the people that the only way the world can have true peace is if governments of the world and the people of the world really want it so badly. Offering to show the world his view of the planet using Jeremy, Superman and Jeremy fly high above the Earth, observing that the planet is, in reality, just one world, rather than the divided world one sees on a man-made map. And Superman states, “And when we all see it that way, then there will be no more war.” One-Shot Comic is bagged & double boarded and will be carefully / securely packaged then shipped via USPS Priority Mail to ensure that it arrives to you perfectly and quickly.
