Sweden Poster Stamp - 1910 Traveling Horticultural Exhibition

Description: [zipedit] SwedenEvent Publicity Poster Stamp Publicity poster stamp issued for a Traveling Horticultural Exhibition held on board a boat in 1910. The Swedish firm of Moritz Fraenkel & Co. sponsored the exhibition on board the company's motor-schooner "Cecilia". There is an old photo album produced by the company, which includes a photo of the ship (which is the image used for the stamp's design) as well as an interior photo of the floating exhibition area. The accompanying text reads: The floating plant cultivation exhibition in 1910 on board the company's motor schooner "Cecilia" was paid for by the company. Exhibitors were, in addition to the company itself, the Swedish Moss Culture Association, Malmöhus County Agricultural Experiments and the Central Institute's departments for botany and entomology. During the period May - Sept, the exhibition ship visited all Swedish houses and major ports from Stockholm around the Swedish coast to Strömstad and also made a detour to Denmark and Kristiania. I could not find any additional information about the company itself. This stamp was printed in sheets of 36 (6x6) with full (unprinted) margins. This example is F/VF, OG, NH. A Note about Poster Stamps and Gum: Because many poster stamp collectors are primarily interested in the image on the stamp, the absence or presence of gum on the back is of little concern.
