Description: Sweet 16 # 6211 Hot Wheels Redline Aqua Custom Barracuda Hong Kong Grey InteriorPlease see photos for details. Hood stays open. I believe Deep Dish wheels. I would call the interior Grey – not certain what the silver looks like.Designer: Harry BradleyProduction Run: 1968-1969Country of Origin - US and Hong Kong. The body castings of the two versions of the Custom Barracudas are largely indistinguishable and all have bearing type wheels. The most prominent difference is the shape of the "power bulges" on the hood with the HK version, being longer and extending almost the full length of the hood. Underside - The absence of mechanical detail on the US version is noteworthy. Hong Kong cars have a detailed base including four square holes to view the Bent Axle Suspension, these holes are absent from USA built vehicles. There are also several minor base variations involving the size and addition of ™ and © symbols. The Custom Barracuda features an opening hood which reveals a detailed engine. Some early HK manufactured cars could also be found with deeper power bulges than usual, these have only been found on Aqua and Purple cars. Interior Colors:US Interior Colors: white, grey bone, and darkHK Interior Colors: white, brown, dark grey, silver, and light purpleThe US version of the interior features a steering wheel which is molded as part of the dashboard. The Hong Kong version has separate steering wheel and lacks a dashboard. US - Clear GlassHK - Blue GlassThe Custom Barracuda is a Hot Wheels casting designed by Harry Bradley which debuted in 1968 as part of the first sixteen Hot Wheels ever, sometimes known as the 'Sweet Sixteen'. It is based off the real-life 1967 Plymouth Barracuda. The 1967 Barracuda was heavily revised from 1966 with Coke-bottle side contours, new front and rear ends, a concave rear deck panel, wider wheel openings and curved side glass. The rear portion of the roof on the fastback coupe was more streamlined, and the back glass, raked at a substantially horizontal angle, was much smaller compared with that of the previous model. Also, the use of chrome trim on the external sheet metal was more restrained. The slant-6 was the base engine, the V8 options ranged from the 2 and 4 barrel versions of the 273 ci. to a seldom-ordered 383 ci. "B" big-block, rated at 280 bhp, the latter available only with the Formula S package. The Custom Barracuda was painted in a variety of Spectraflame colors, some of which are very rare. Unlike most early 'Redline Era' cars, the Custom Barracuda was never manufactured with a black roof. All Custom Barracudas came with delrin 'Bearing' Redline wheels, with some early produced vehicles from Hong Kong sporting 'Deep Dish' wheels on the front.
