Tarzan's Desert Mystery (1943) A letter from Jane, who is nursing British troops, asks Tarzan's help... Tarzan Escapes (1936) Jane's cousins Rita and Eric Parker arrive in Africa searching for her. Their uncle has died and has left her half a million pounds provided she agrees to return to civilization. A professional hunter, Captain Fry, quickly agrees to escort them to the escarpment where rumor has it there there lives a great white ape. He's intrigued when told that the great white ape is likely Tarzan and his plan is to capture him and put him on display. When they all find each other, Jane agrees to return to London if only to ensure that her cousins get their late uncle's wealth. Fry manipulates Tarzan into believing that Jane will never return only to trap him. When Jane and the others are taken prisoner by warring tribesmen, it's left to Tarzan to rescue them. Tarzan the Ape Man (1932) When Jane Parker unexpectedly arrives in Africa to visit her father, she also finds herself accompanying him and hunter Harry Holt on an expedition to a mysterious escarpment to find the legendary elephants graveyard and its treasure of ivory. Having reached the escarpment, they see a strange white man living in the trees like an ape. He promptly kidnaps Jane but means her no harm and he eventually sets her free, but not before her father and Holt kill one of the apes. When local tribesmen take Jane and her father prisoner, Tarzan comes to their rescue and causes a stampede through the native village. Jane is taken the mysterious ape man but she also feels it necessary to support her father, as she is all she has left in the world. In the end, she opts to make her life with Tarzan. Tarzan And His Mate (1934) In the first sequel to Tarzan, the Ape Man, Harry Holt returns to Africa to head up a large ivory expedition. This time he brings his womanizing friend Marlin Arlington. Holt also harbors ideas about convincing Jane to return to London. When Holt and Arlington show Jane some of the modern clothes and perfumes they brought from civilization, she is impressed but not enough to return. Tarzan wrestles every wild animal imaginable to protect Jane but when he disallows the expedition from plundering ivory from the elephant burial grounds, it is he who takes a bullet from Arlington's gun. Jane eventually believes that Tarzan is dead but he is nursed back to health by the apes. As Jane and the returning expedition are attacked by violent natives, we wonder if Tarzan can rescue them yet again. Tarzan Finds a Son! (1939) After an airplane crashes on the escarpment, a baby is found to be the only survivor. The child is rescued and is taken in by Jane and Tarzan. The jungle lord names him Boy and as the years go by, the child learns the way of the jungle and they all live a very happy life. Five years after the crash, a party from England arrive looking for the crash site and in the feint hope that there may have been survivors. Led by Sir Thomas Lancing, it seems that Boy has inherited a large fortune and wants to to take him back to England. Tarzan won't hear of it but Jane realizes that it may be in the child's best interest to return, even if it will break her heart. Her decision may end her relationship with her mate however. Tarzan�s New York Adventure (1942) Circus owner Buck Rand kidnaps Boy to perform in his show. He forces a pilot to fly him, Boy and his animal trainer out of the jungle. Tarzan and Jane follow them to New York. At a trial over custody of Boy, Tarzan becomes violent and is jailed. With the help of the pilot's girlfriend Tarzan (who has since escaped, diving off the Brooklyn Bridge) finds the circus. He and the circus elephants complete the classic rescue. Tarzan�s Secret Treasure (1941) After Boy is taken prisoner by local tribesmen and rescued by Prof. Elliott and his team of explorers, Tarzan offers to show them a way to their destination through the escarpment that will save them several weeks. Problems arise however when Boy mentions to two of the men that the river bed near his home is covered in gold. Greed drives them from that point on and they will apparently go to any lengths to gets their hands on the precious yellow metal. Tarzan and the Mermaids (1948) On a beautiful and remote island, the beautiful maiden Mara has been promised in marriage to their god. She escapes however and eventually makes her way deep into the jungle. There she is found by Tarzan who takes him home to Jane and Cheetah. Boy is away studying in England. Mara is afraid her people will come after her and they eventually find her and forcibly return her to her home where their high priest is intent on marrying her to their god. Tarzan comes to the rescue. Tarzan and the Huntress (1947) A shortage of zoo animals after World War II brings beautiful animal trainer Tanya, her financial backer and her cruel trail boss to the jungle. After negotiating a quota with the native king, they take more animals than allowed. Tarzan intervenes. Tarzan and the Amazons (1945) Tarzan and Boy joyfully welcome Jane back to Africa from her stay in London. On the same boat with her is Sir Guy Henderson, an archaeologist who is on an expedition to find the lost city of Amazon women. Not everyone in the expedition is there for its scientific value and some are simply in search of gold. Tarzan knows where the city is located but is a friend of the Amazons and refuses to share that with anyone. Boy, who secretly followed Tarzan during his last visit to the city, naively shows them the way leading to an inevitable clash. Tarzan comes to the rescue. Tarzan and the Leopard Woman (1946) The District Commissioner is concerned when a trade caravan from Zambezi is attacked by leopards. Tarzan doesn't think that leopards were responsible as they can find only claw marks on the bodies. A secret leopard cult is at work determined to stop further European encroachment on their territory. When they kidnap a group of young women teachers, Tarzan sets off to save them. Meanwhile, a young boy who wants to prove his manhood to the cult's leader comes to live at Tarzan and Jane's tree house intent on killing Jane and gaining his place in the secret group. Tarzan Triumphs (1943) With Jane away in England on a visit, Tarzan and Boy are on their own. Boy gets himself into a spot of trouble but is rescued by the beautiful Zandra, a princess from the secluded city of Palandra. When Nazi paratroopers invade the city in search of its mineral wealth, she seeks Tarzan's help. He sees no reason to help her or her enslaved people as the Nazis have not caused him any trouble. When they kidnap Boy however, he swings into action. Tarzan's Desert Mystery (1943) Jane is still in London working as a nurse in a military hospital. She asks Tarzan to get her some of the medicine they had used when Boy had developed fever and he sets off with Boy and Cheetah to the great desert to get the plants in question. Along the way, they meet Connie Bryce, a magician who had been entertaining troops in North Africa and has now been offered the opportunity entertain an Arab sheik. They make their way to the desert capital but find their leader under the influence of Nazis. Once there, Tarzan is charged with horse theft and imprisoned. Tarzan, Boy and Connie manage to escape and along the way encounter many strange creatures including giant lizards, killer spiders and a man-eating plant. Tarzan Escapes (1936) White hunter Captain Fry tries to take Tarzan back to civilization, caged for public display. He arrives in the jungle with Jane's cousins, Eric and Rita who want Jane's help in claiming a fortune left her. Tarzan the Ape Man (1932) James Parker and Harry Holt are on an expedition in Africa in search of the elephant burial grounds that will provide enough ivory to make them rich. Parker's beautiful young daughter Jane arrives unexpectedly to join them. Harry is obviously attracted to Jane and he does his best to help protect her from all the dangers that they experience in the jungle. Jane is terrified when Tarzan and his ape friends first abduct her, but when she returns to her father's expedition she has second thoughts about leaving Tarzan. After the expedition is captured by a tribe of violent dwarfs, Jane sends Cheetah to bring Tarzan to rescue them... Tarzan And His Mate (1934) Tarzan and Jane are happily living in their jungle paradise. She's found a home among the trees and the animals and is living a life that she never dreamed possible. Their idyll is interrupted when Jane's former beau, Harry Holt, returns to the jungle intent on reclaiming her. He's brought beautiful clothes with her and many of the trappings of the civilized world in the hopes of enticing her back. With him is Martin Arlington who is intent on finding the elephants' graveyard and its fortune in ivory. They all face many perils in the jungle and Tarzan is there to protect them - and Jane in particular - from anything that might happen. When Tarzan is shot and cannot be found, Jane realizes that she may have no choice but to return to the outside world. Tarzan Finds a Son! (1939) A young couple die in a plane crash in the jungle. Their son is found by Tarzan and Jane who name him Boy and raise him as their own. Five years later a search party comes to find the young heir to millions of dollars. Jane agrees, against Tarzan's will, to lead them to civilization. Tarzan�s New York Adventure (1942) When an airplane lands on the escarpment, Tarzan tells Boy to stay away from it and the men who've arrived on it. Boy is fascinated by the airplane however and can't keep himself away. Buck Rand and the men are there to capture animals for circus acts and they see the perfect circus act in Boy and his pet baby elephants. When a fire breaks out forcing them to quickly flee the jungle, Rand takes Boy with him. Jane and Tarzan must fly to New York City but even when they find him, they are forced to go to court to maintain custody. Tarzan�s Secret Treasure (1941) A scientific expedition happens to discover that gold exits on Tarzan's escarpment. The villainous Medford and Vandermeer kidnap Jane and Boy to extort from Tarzan the location of the gold. Everyone is captured by wicked natives. Tarzan and his elephants rush to the rescue. Tarzan and the Mermaids (1948) A beautiful, young girl becomes caught in Tarzan's net while he is fishing. She is Mara, who has fled from the pearl-fishing village of Aquatania to escape marriage to Palanth, who poses as the living-god, Balu. Balu's henchmen recapture Mara and return her to Balu's temple on Taboo Island. Tarzan follows in an effort to rescue her. Tarzan and the Huntress (1948) The ape man (Johnny Weissmuller), Jane (Brenda Joyce) and Boy (Johnny Sheffield) try to stop a zoologist from taking too many animals back to the United States. Tarzan and the Amazons (1945) A group of archaeologists asks Tarzan to help them find an ancient city in a hidden valley of women. He refuses, but Boy is tricked into doing the job. The queen of the women asks Tarzan to help them. Tarzan and the Leopard Woman (1946) Tarzan and the Leopard Woman was a 1946 action film based on the Tarzan character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs and portrayed by Johnny Weissmuller. Directed by Kurt Neumann, the premise of the movie is Tarzan encounters a tribe of leopard-worshippers. Tarzan Triumphs (1943) Zandra, white princess of a lost civilization, comes to Tarzan for help when Nazis invade the jungle with plans to conquer her people and take their wealth.
