He was called from his flock by George Washington to form the 8th Virginia Regiment, and served at the battles of Brandywine, Germantown, Monmouth and Yorktown. He also wintered at Valley Forge. This biography appears to have been prepared by his grandson. The biography includes an Appendix of war-time communications between Washington and Muhlenberg. A front end-paper includes a gift inscription from the Author's son. Listed as Howes a, octavo, 456pp, condition as listed above.
