Description: Listed is this tobacco art print. By Taylor Penley “Burley Belt Barn” Framed and matted measurements approximately 15 1/2” X 12 1/2” Good collectible condition - see photos Some information about this item and others. I purchased most of a personal tobacco memorabilia collection. This collector was a life long member of Weston, Missouri community. Weston was founded in 1837 and was the first settlement in the Platte Purchase, a six-county area ceded to Missouri by the Sae and Fox Indian tribes. A steamboat port on the Missouri River across from Ft. Leavenworth, the community was the principal marketplace for the fort an important point of departure for travelers headed west. Weston was at one time, the second largest port on the Missouri River. Weston was the oldest settlement in the Platte Purchase and was therefore also the farthest western settlement in the United States until the admission of Texas as a state in 1845. In later years Weston was known for its brewing company. Through a series of mergers, The American Tobacco Company, organized in the 1890’s enjoyed a virtual monopoly of the American tobacco market until the company was ordered dissolved by the Federal Government in 1911. I will be listing more from this tobacco memorabilia collection. Take a look at my store Great Estate Find. All sales final, as is and no returns. Thanks for looking and have a great day.
