Description: This is a beautiful photo of iconic Brookside Farms in 1988, shortly after Allen Paulson purchased the 1600 acre facility. He turned the farm into a showplace. Best known of the horses that were campaigned by Paulson and his wife, Madeleine, was Cigar, the two-time Horse of the Year (1995-96) who tied Citation's modern-day record of 16 consecutive victories and who retired as racing's all-time earner with more than $9.9 million. They also owned Arazi and Theatrical (in partnership). After Mr. Paulson passed, in 2000, the farm was sold. Most of the acreage was purchased by Gerald Ford’s Diamond A Ranch. Ashford Stud purchased 450 adjacent acres. The farm has obviously changed immensely since this photo was taken, which makes it a very special part of the industry’s history - and Mr. Paulson’s history as an influential presence in that world for many years. You can find many photos signed by Tony Leonard, but it is rare to find one with his penmanship on the back as well. This piece came from a large estate. Print measures 8” x 10”. The image measures 6 ½” x 9 ¾” 100% of proceeds are donated to Bright Futures Farm equine charity.
