Description: During early mining times, there were no lights strung upon the ceiling as is the case today, so prior to the 1800's miners would use this tool, called a Sticking Tommy, to help light the way. This hand forged miner candle stick was used by putting a candle in the holder, and then the spike was driven into a wooden beam or rock crevice to hold the light in place so the miners could work. This particular candle stick features a hook, which a miner would have used to attach the sticking tommy to his cap. This mining artifact is a great tool to share the mining trade with family, display on your mantle or next to your beside table at your cabin. Sticking Tommy measures 9 3/4" long, and 2 1/2" wide with room for an average tapered candle. Candle opening is 3/4".
