The flint wheel Is the small version which is an attractive and unique looking Tare collectors item. Dunhill is embossed on the Lid - which its namesake is derived from. The wore Halfcap refers to the fact that the lid or cap can only be seen on one side of this lighter - the “Halfcap” name is derived from the appearance that the lid gives to this piece. This authentic Art Deco period piece will continue to increase in value as the lighter approaches the 100th anniversary of its production ! The Half Cap "Broadboy" lighters come in a few sizes and designs and this is the small or short size version in this Engine Turned Barley design patterns that retains its original Lid which has the DUNHILL name mark embossed on the front edge of the flip top - Plus it is marked on the petrol screw cap that is mounted on the bottom of this lighter. This "Broadboy" model lighter was first designed in the early 1930’a by Wise and Greenwood of London with this half cap design and unusual slide door iflinting system. The Half Cap “Broadboy" lighter is an exceptional example of an antique Alfred Dunhill lighter. This Unique collectors item has a superb feel in hand and looks and performs like no other Dunhill Lighter. Measurements are approximately 1½" (3.7cm) tall , 1¼"(3.2cm) across and about ½" (1.1cm) thick. Condition: Fair and working! In fair cosmetic condition with normal usage and age wear on the silver plated surface. It has some blemishes on the surface. The cap hinge / top lid does not stay up open and does not close tightly so it may need some TLC to repair it (missing a spring?). Yes, these flaws are issues for the value of this lighter but if you are an avid Dunhill collector, you know that the book value of these lighters is high. This lighter can be a nice challenge to an amateur lighter craftsman who wishes to restore the lighter to it’s former glory. No dings, chips or cracks on the outside that I can see. It is working fine with a good spark. This lighter will need maintenance and cleaning. All the defects do not detract from its beauty. This is a “must” for a Dunhill collector!
