Description: Vintage 1970s Seattle Jane Addams Theater / Civic Light Opera Parking Sign. 48” x 12” The Jane Addams theater was the second base of operations for Seattle based theater group, Civil Light Opera. The group is now aptly called Seattle Musical Theater, and is still in operation today! Civic Light Opera moved to the Jane Addams theater in 1978 after their productions outgrew their previous location. Jane Addams Theater was a portion of the Jane Addams Middle School, the school administration let the theater group use the space when it wasn’t in use by the school. The Civic Light Orchestra used the space until 2002. Forced to move to a new space due to the K-8 school program being integrated into the Middle School, thus needing room for more students. But during that time between 1978 and 2002, CLO and the Jane Addams Theater proved to be vital in creating a safe space for the arts within the Seattle School District. The group / theater hosted school plays, musical theater performances, and much more. Serving thousands and thousands of students in the process. This item has obvious signs of ware. Rust stains and chipped paint can be seen throughout. We believe this item to be from the late 1970s - early 1980s. Refer to photos for additional condition information. ^T^
