We took all photos outside, in the shade, on a sunny day. * The set comes without a key, but we could make one--message us. Elegant, vintage, interior door lockset made by "Sargent & Co." of New Haven, CT sometime during the middle of the previous century. The set is complete with all parts needed to install: 2 knobs, 2 escutcheons, 1 mortise lock, 1 strike plate for the door jamb, 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs, and 12 installation screws to fasten the lock and plates to the door. The knobs and plates are made of solid brass, not plated steel. The lock is reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door. We found the set fairly clean and with a subtle patina. If you prefer a bright, shiny finish, this could be achieved with some, "Brasso," and #0000 grade steel wool. All parts are in excellent condition with only tiny nicks and light scratches that you would expect to find on old, used hardware. The lock was opened, inspected, and we sprayed machine oil on and around all parts to facilitate their movement. The inside of the lock is very clean considering its age (see last photo). If you want a key to operate the lock, we could modify an old skeleton key to work with any of this lock for $15/key--email us after you checkout if you are interested.
