Description: Descoware reached its height of popularity during the midcentury before being discontinued in the 70's when bought out by Le Crueset. Julia Child was known to have been a big promoter of Descoware cookwares. They are heavy cast iron, with a porcelain coated enameled exterior. Descoware cast iron pots were manufactured in Belgium from the 1940s to the 1970s. The pots were originally manufactured in France as "Bruxelles Ware", but the American import company D.E. Sanford Co. purchased the manufacturing rights in the 1940s and changed the brand name to Descoware. The pots were forged in Japan and then porcelainized in Belgium. This one is in very good condition. It has a place where you can screw into the handle. It is 4 1/2 tall x 7 1/4" wide x8 1/2" in length. It has an 48oz capacity.
