Description: Here is a vibrant hand-colored transferware relish tray/ gravy underplate by Johnson Brothers. It has a crisply detailed colonial style depiction of a Southern Plantation scene. It has a lovely scalloped rim with slanted swirls embossed on the interior sides. The tray is made of durable Ironstone ceramic and has a glossy finish. Measuring 7 7/8 inches in length and 5 3/8 inches in width, the tray has one compartment for easy serving. It weighs 9.6 ounces and has a printed backstamp. This original piece from the Heritage Hall product line was made in Staffordshire, England between 1969 and 1985. Condition is very good with no chips, cracks, crazing or discoloration - and almost zero utensil marks. The backstamp in brown with the crown and lions logo reads "Heritage Hall, Made in Staffordshire England, Southern Plantation, A Typical Greek Revival Period During the early 19th Century, Genuine Hand Engraving, Dishwasher Safe, Ironstone, 4411".
