Description: This late 19th century James Vick Seed (Greece NY, Monroe County) cabinet was a unique find at an estate sale at a 175 year old farmhouse in Upstate New York. The lithograph (also unique) by The Brett Litho Co., titled “PANSIES”, was duly painted for “James Wick Seedsman” (see pics). The litho is in excellent shape, as it’s been protected all these years behind glass on the 1/2” thick wooden hinged door. The cabinet measures almost 16” high, about 12” wide, and a little more than 3-1/2” deep. Some of the nails are missing on the inside of the door that holds the litho in place…..exactly how I found it. There’s an old fashioned latch that holds the door shut (see pics). Considering its age, whuch year I can’t exactly pinpoint, is in pretty good condition…..free of any cracks or splinters. Also, the glass on the food is free of any damage. There are some scratches on the case, especially at the latch location, and on the back cover there is some damage (see pics). All in all, it certainly is an incredibly important reflection of early “Americana”. This comes from a smoke free home.
