Description: This vintage 11 inch composition and cloth Madame Alexander doll is a collector's dream. The doll has beautiful wavy strawberry blonde hair with golden brown or hazel sleep eyes that open and close. His matching strawberry blonde eyelashes are adorable. According to my Madame Alexander Collectors book, he dates to 1940 and was one of the first boy dolls made. He bears the marks listed in my book, MME ALEXANDER on the back of his neck and “ Butch” on the tag of his 1 piece romper. He still wears his original knit hat, shoes and socks. CONDITION: Very good used condition, especially for a 84 year old composition play doll. Close inspection finds a few fine hair-like lines in the composition surface, but no cracks or chips. His hair is a little messed up, but not too bad. The fabric of the shirt has pulled out of the seam in one place on the collar. Faint discoloration in spots on the hat. I did not remove the shoes and socks because I didn’t want to stretch out his original socks or risk damaging the shoes. There is a little discoloration on the shoes. As pictured. Please see photos.
