Please excuse any glare in the photos. This nocturnal painting depicts a city scene in the Albaicin district of Granada, Spain. It measures approximately 7 inches by 5 inches. This watercolor was painted on stiff paper. This would be a fine addition to a collection of vintage European art. Identification This painting is by the listed artist, George Owen Wynne Apperley (1884-1960), a listed artist on askART. Included with the painting is an old paper label on which the artist's name and the title of the piece are written. This piece is titled, "Night in the Albaicin: Granada." Per askART, Apperley was born on the Isle of Wight, off the coast of England. He lived a large portion of his life in Spain and Tangiers. Apperley exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Scottish Academy, and the Baillie Galleries. Condition This unframed painting looks good overall, as shown. The painting has no creases, rips, or holes. The back side of the painting has some glue spots where it was previously affixed to a backing.
