Description: Vintage LP: Issued 1950 - Columbia Masterworks ML 4048 with Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite and Mozartiana - Artur Rodzinski conducting the Philharmonic-Symphony Orchestra of New York Comments: Fully play-tested. This is one of those really old, quite heavy LPs that just feels good to handle! The cover art on this release is not seen often. It's my understanding that this title was originally released on LP in 1948 (in a far less interesting cover). Please be sure to read the play-test notes below. Visual Record Condition: The vinyl is clean and glossy with a few light scuffs. I graded it VG+ visually. Record Labels Condition: The labels are in great shape. Wear is minimal. There isn't any writing/tape/stickers on the labels. Play Test Notes: I played this record from start to finish before offering it for sale. In fact, I played at least portions of it on three different turntables because of something that I observed. When playing on my best turntable, I could see a tremble at the stylus when playing the beginning of the Nutcracker side. I figured there might be a warp or something, but no physical reason for a tremble could be found. Perhaps the music in the grooves in the first couple of minutes of the side promoted the tremble. To be on the safe side, I played the record on my old Panasonic general purpose stereo. No tremble. I tried one more time on a midrange turntable in another room. Mild tremble. In all cases, the stylus tracked correctly and the music sounded right. If your stylus is worn and not tracking as well as it should, I can see where the tremble could promote skipping. In my 3 tests, the turntables all had relatively new styluses. When the tremble was observed, it gradually became less intense and was no longer observed by about the end of the first track on the side. Otherwise, general background record surface noise was mild. There were some light ticks/clicks from time to time. The quality of the sound was excellent. I found the listen to be very enjoyable. There were no skips or sticks during my play-test. Jacket Type and Condition: The old-time standard LP jacket is in VG condition. The cover graphics are amazing. I need to point out that when I first saw this album cover, I thought it was stained with something black on the left side of the front. But no. The black dot-looking patterns on the left side are in fact a part of the art work. I confirmed this by finding a photo of another copy with this art and comparing. There are no significant creases. There are some seam splits that a previous owner repaired with tape. Some discoloration from age and/or foxing can be seen. There is some writing on the back of the cover. The album cover is currently protected from further wear by a clear poly outer sleeve. Inner Sleeve Type and Condition: When I found this, there was no inner sleeve. I placed the LP in a replacement white paper inner which I soon discovered will not fit into the LP jacket. If this record ever had an inner sleeve, it had to have been something very tight. I'm storing the record outside of the jacket instead of trying to force something into the jacket that does not want to go there. Inserts: None. Shipping Notes: The shipping charge you are asked to pay covers some of the costs I incur for postage and quality packing materials. This will be packed well for secure shipping. By default the package will travel by the slower Media Mail rate. For speedier delivery, an option to use Priority Mail shipping is provided at check-out. The post office makes no delivery time guarantee for Priority Mail, but Priority Mail packages almost always are delivered within 2 or 3 days from the time I hand them over to the post office. I generally pack and ship items sold right away and hand them over to the post office at the earliest opportunity (sometimes same day, sometimes next day). Please see the photos to check out the condition for yourself. Zoom right in and have a good look. When multiple items are shipped together, I can almost always give you a better deal on the shipping cost compared to the individual shipping costs. I promise to give you the best rate possible based on the items purchased and the shipping method required. For "Buy It Now" items (most of what I offer), simply add each item that you want to your shopping cart. When ready to commit to buying, request a total from me from your cart and I'll send an invoice as soon as I can. Since I'm not a computer and I do other things like sleep and take the dogs for walks, you might not receive an immediate response, but I will get back to you as soon as possible. If you decide to pay for items you want individually instead of requesting a total from the shopping cart, I will promptly send back whatever money I can for a shipping discount. Some items are not compatible for combined shipping. Combining shipping might require changing the shipping method or increase packaging materials expense. A few items that I offer are not eligible for combined shipping. Of course it is ok to ask about combined shipping costs up front. You have to tell me exactly what you intend to buy and where it will be shipped. I can't always give an exact cost, but I can at least give you an estimate.I reserve the right to limit the number or total value of items that I'm willing to send in a single package. For international sales I use ebay's international shipping program. Combined shipping depends on the ebay shipping program rules in place at the time of shipment. It is possible that no combined shipping discount is available for international orders.************* End of long-winded answers to hypothetical questions ***********
