Vintage Original Crime Film Noir “The Big Heat“ 1953 Linen-Backed Movie Poster

Description: This vintage original classic 1953 stars Film Noir royalty Glenn Ford and Gloria Graham in Fritz Lang's brutal film of gang violence, police corruption, torture, and murder. Ford portrays Detective Dave Bannion, who is obsessed with finding out why his partner committed suicide, with Bannion suspecting that his colleagues' silence means they're on the payroll of gangsters. With the help of a disfigured ex-moll of the gangster, played by Graham, he falls further into the trap, willing to risk anything as long as he gets the truth. Even by film noir standards, the film was considered extremely violent for its day, but The Big Heat still received overwhelmingly positive reviews, with critics especially taking note of Lang's "tense" and "forceful" direction. This original, vintage and authentic One Sheet (27" X 41") poster is in very good condition and is linen-backed with a dramatic and vividly colorful film noir image. The poster has tiny paper loss at the bottom crossfold and pinholes in the corners. Otherwise, it has survived in really fantastic condition. The film was selected for inclusion in the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress's in 2011. Proclaiming it "one of the great post-war noir films", the Registry stated that The Big Heat "manages to be both stylized and brutally realistic, a signature of its director Fritz Lang." The film turns the role of the femme fatale on its head. Whereas many noirs contain the tradition of the femme-fatale, the deadly spiderwoman who destroys her man and his family and career, The Big Heat inverts this narrative paradigm, making Ford [Det. Bannion] the indirect agent of fatal destruction. All four women he meets—from clip joint singer, Lucy Chapman, to gun moll Debby—are destroyed.
