Description: This dress belonged to my aunt who was Mistress of Ceremonies for the Thunderbird Hotel in Las Vegas in the 1940s and early 1950s. I believe this dress is from the 1940s, because my aunt was not this small in the 1950s. :)Her stage name was Gayle Robbins, and she knew how to glamour! (Photo of Ms. Robbins not included with the dress.) The bodice is velvet with cap sleeves and a dropped waistline. It is is trimmed in silver cord loops. The skirt is a semi- full circle and very crisp. The skirt is lined with what I believe is a heavy, crisp muslin. The zipper is metal and on the side of the bodice. The front neck is scooped and the back is a V-neck. The label indicates that it is a size D. Looking at the measurements, I would say that it's a size 2. It was too small to fit over my dress form! Please use the size diagram to determine if it will fit. NOTE: Returns are accepted if the Tyvek band has not been removed. Condition and Details: This is a delicate dress and should not be stretched to fit.The muslin lining is a bit fragile and has come apart about 8 inches below the zipper at the side seam. The label is yellowed, but does not appear to affect the dress.I found no tears in the outer dress itself.A few of the silver cord trim loops are missing or torn. Please look closely at the photos.Stored in a non-smoking environment.
